Regardless of what type of site you choose to run, one of the things you will always need is content. This page
explores the four types of content you can get: Free, Inexpensive, Premium and Custom.

When you first start your site, or even when you get established, every penny counts. In order to maximize
your content while minimizing your budget, there is one easy, quick way to stock up your content area:
free content. As discussed in the Types of Sites and Promotion areas, free content is widely available from
sponsors trying to get the word out about their own sites.

While the concept of stocking a site with completely free content seems very tempting, it is important to
remember that there is no such thing as a free lunch. While free content provided by sponsors is often very
high quality and plentiful, it is generally outdated content that is no longer "first run" on the sponsor's site.
In some cases, your members or viewers may have already seen this content at the sponsor's site or on other
sites using the free content. In addition, free content is almost always branded with the sponsor's logo. Since
the content is provided free as one of the sponsor's advertising tools, the logo should never be removed.

Free content is ideal (and, in fact, intended for) thumbnail galleries, link lists and free sites. Some pay sites
use free content to beef up their members' areas and provide links back to the sponsors. If you choose to use
free content, be sure you familiarize yourself with the sponsor's rules and adhere to them.

Many sponsors provide some amount of free content. For large amounts of excellent quality content, a few
sponsors to consider are Nasty Dollars and Bucks Mania.

Ever mindful of maximizing profits, many adult webmasters turn to inexpensive "non-exclusive" content. Non-
exclusive content is pictures (or videos, webcams or other content) available to any webmaster willing to
purchase it. Like free content, non-exclusive content has its pros and cons.

There is ample supply of inexpensive non-exclusive content available and any number of adult content providers.
The selection is so wide, in fact, that there is only a slim chance that your visitor has seen your purchased content
elsewhere already. In addition, the prices for non-exclusive content, especially older content, can make for
exceptional bargains. This type of content can feature the model of your choice for as little as $0.33 per picture
or as low as $5 for a set of digital photos. One more benefit? Almost all purchased content is already compliant
with US Title 2257 and includes the documentation you will need should you ever be required to prove that your
models are at least 18 years of age.

There are, of course, a few caveats when considering inexpensive content. By its very nature, non-exclusive
content is less expensive because it relies on purchases by multiple webmasters to generate the provider's profit.
This duplicity means that your content is very likely also available elsewhere on the Internet, and sometimes at
a lower price. If your users discover this fact, you risk losing them. In addition, because this content is produced
on a budget, you have no control over the quality, quantity or theme of the content.

All things considered, inexpensive non-exclusive content is ideal for webmasters new to the adult scene or
professional sites looking to expand the amount of content they offer on the cheap. Non-exclusive content makes
excellent filler content and can very quickly (and with little investment) make a small site appear to be huge.
While non-exclusive content providers have proliferated throughout the Internet, a couple of quality producers
are Adult Labs and Rock Bottom Content. You can also visit the resources listed in the Webmaster Resources
link above to see some paid advertisements for content providers.

As long as you're paying for content, it is sometimes wise to make an additional investment and purchase
some premium content. Premium content can be either exclusively made for your site or, to save a litte
money up front, purchased under a non-exclusive license. While some premium content is non-exclusive,
it is generally of a much higher quality, includes more images (or longer videos) and is free of any promotional
items inserted by the sponsor. Although many free site and TG webmasters shy away from the expense of
premium content, stocking the content area with premium pictures and videos is a MUST for pay site operators.

As with the inexpensive content referenced above, there are a plethora of premium content providers available
throughout the Internet. Most offer bulk discounts to offset the high price of their best content, and pay site
operators are well advised to buy in bulk. Some providers, such as Rock Bottom Content, offer a combination
of inexpensive and premium content. Others, such as Bad Ass Feeds, operate exclusively in the premium
realm. Because of the large investment associated with premium content, webmasters seeking this type of
stock should be careful to shop around before making purchase commitments.

Premium content aside, the penultimate staple of any pay site- or unique niche site of any type- is custom
content. Nothing keeps visitors and subscribers coming back like content that exclusive to your site, and
custom content is the ultimate exclusivity.

While producing your own custom content is an enormous investment, those in extremely unique niches (for
example, Vore) often have no other choice. Even some more mainstream pay site operators prefer to purchase
or produce their own custom content due to high rate of return on this investment. How big is this investment?
The few content providers which offer custom content often charge thousands of dollars per video or per
photo set
. On a large pay site, this expense can add up with incredible speed, leading many webmasters to
turn to self-production.

Producing your own custom content is not exactly an easy- or inexpensive- task. The typical digital camera
is far from sufficient for this task, and a digital SLR such as Canon's Digital SLR Rebel is more of a minimum
requirement than a luxury. Setting is important, also, so renting a studio or reserving a private area of a park
is another expense. Advanced photo and video editing software such as Photoshop or Finul Cut Pro are also
required to brand your work and give it that professional finish. Finally, if you're shooting video, throw out
the VHS camera in your closet- most members now expect HD video at the bare minimum.

Of course, for some, custom content is a choice or a necessity. If you choose to create your own custom
content, be prepared to have (and use) very deep pockets. If you are unable to do so, you should consider
either using inexpensive, non-exclusive content described above or simply taking the Easy Way.
